Earlier this month, BBC News broadcasted a special feature spotlighting our Complications from Excess Weight (CEW) clinic at Darent Valley Hospital.

The segment's producers visited our Dartford site to speak exclusively to our very own Dr Alok Gupta, Dr Sapna Singh and Specialist Dietician, Sukhvinder Kaur, who shared insight on the effects of excess weight on children and the service they provide to children and their families.

As one of 30 pilot centres nationwide, the CEW clinic is the only specialist service of its kind dedicated to children in Kent. The clinic is mainly treating teenagers for lifestyle-related weight conditions but are also treating some patients as young as three years old.

Our team, comprised of paediatricians and dieticians, told the BBC that they work with children and their families to improve their diet and lifestyle at home. This includes encouraging children to switch to healthy foods and in some cases, calorie counted meal plans.

Keep up the great work, team!
