Chaplaincy

The Chaplaincy and Spiritual Care Team at DGT offers pastoral, spiritual, religious and non-religious care to patients, families, carers, and colleagues within the Trust,  respecting the faith and belief of all who reach out for support.

The Chapel/Quiet Room and Multi-Faith Prayer Room is open to people all faiths and beliefs for prayer, worship or quiet reflection.

The Chapel / Quiet Room & Multi-Faith Prayer Room

These rooms have been designed to be an oasis of calm in a busy hospital environment where all can find refuge for prayer, worship and quiet reflection.

The space is divided by a curtain to give flexibility and allow as many people as possible to use the space when they need to. There are a number of spiritual books available to read and prayer mats for those whose faith requires such items.

There is a partitioned space for those whose faith tradition requires that genders pray in separate areas.

Housekeeping Etiquette

Please respect the space and avoid taking food/hot drinks into the areas and making personal phone calls. Remember; it is an oasis of calm designed for prayer and quiet reflection.

For all queries relating to chaplaincy support and the use of this prayer space, please contact the Lead Chaplain (01322 428100 x4640)

Chaplains and the chaplaincy volunteers visit all wards offering pastoral and spiritual support when requested. The patients and their families determine the shape of this support and it is in their gift to accept or decline a visit from chaplaincy. For people of faith, we ensure their cultural, spiritual and religious needs are met as far as possible and are able to put patients in touch with the spiritual/belief adviser of their choice. For Christians, they offer Holy Communion, the Anointing of the Sick, the Sacrament of Reconciliation, Prayer and Bible reading. For the non-religious, pastoral and spiritual support is always offered. We can also put patients in contact with a suitable spiritual/belief advisor of their choice when possible.

  • Sunday Service of Holy Communion at 3:00pm and Distribution of Holy Communion to bedside.
