We offer work experience placements at Darent Valley Hospital, Dartford and are now able to offer limited placements at Queen Mary's Hospital, Sidcup.

Work experience is fully booked until January 2025.

No placements are available during these weeks:

  • 20th – 24th Jan 2025
  • 10th – 14th Feb 2025
  • 10th – 14th Mar 2025
  • 21st – 25th Apr 2025
  • 28th Apr – 2nd May 2025

Additional unavailability will be added for June & July in due course

  • Students must be 17 or older by the time of placement.
  • Placements are one week (Monday-Friday) and limited to one per student per year.
  • We cannot offer placements in Maternity, Pharmacy or Haematology.
  • Paediatric placements are only available Tuesday - Friday morning in outpatient clinics (no access to wards).

  • Make sure to get school approval for the dates as they cannot be changed once booked.
  • Once placed, you cannot move to another department.

Volunteering Option:

If work experience isn’t available, consider volunteering. This involves non-clinical tasks and gives a good insight into healthcare work.

Clinical placements are shadowing only.

Physiotherapy:

For students considering Physiotherapy as a career or applying to university. Shadowing covers General Medicine, Trauma Orthopaedics, Stroke, and MSK. Offered for 3 days in April and August.

For university applicants or undergraduates seeking discipline-specific experience. Students can observe Central Specimen Reception, Biochemistry, Haematology, Blood Transfusion, and Microbiology. Placements can last up to 5 days.
