About me
I am working as a full time Haematology consultant at Dartford and Gravesham NHS Trust since July 2018. Born and raised in Greece, completed my MBBS / Ptychio Iatrikes in 1998 at Athens Kapodistrian Medical School, Haematology Specialist training CCT 2007 in Laikon General Hospital of Athens. Served for one year 2008 - 2009 funded by a scholarship on Haemostatic Disorders/Haemophilia at the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh in Scotland with a Clinical Research Fellowship full time role.
In 2009, returned to Athens and spent a year working full time in a University Haematology Laboratory on a Research project for CML patients with TKI secondary resistance. Have also worked as a Fellow in Clinical Trials. My specialist experience is shaped by locum consultant roles I have served, always full time, in Academic Departments, tertiary centre hospitals with my main interest focused in Clinical Haematology, Haemato-Oncology and coagulation disorders. In the early days of my training and as a young consultant participated as an author in Hellenic national, European and international conferences as well as publications in journals.
Since December 2015, my permanent residence is London - UK. My working experience in the UK is as follows:
- From June 2016 till February 2017 I was employed as a full time Clinical Fellow in Haemato-Oncology at the Royal Marsden Hospital in Sutton London.
- From February 2017 till June 2018 served a Clinical Fellowship, full time non-training role, in the Haematology Department at King’s College Hospital in London with interest in Haematopoietic Stem Cell Transplant field.
I am a member of the Royal College of Pathologists (No 229793) and scientific associations as the British Society for Haematology, the European Society of Haematology, the International Society of Haemostasis and Thrombosis and the Hellenic Haematology Association.
My employment is only in the NHS and offer care for unselected haematology patients who are referred either via the GP Service or the internal / intrahospital NHS pathway. I endeavour to expand my experience in haemato-oncology and liaison haematology, moreover, develop a special interest in Sickle Cell disease, and most lately in the special matters of the local Blood Transfusion Service.
