Dr D’Souza is a Consultant Cardiologist with Dartford and Gravesham NHS Trust and based at Darent Valley Hospital Dartford. He holds Honorary Consultant Cardiologist positions at Guys and St Thomas’ Hospital, London and William Harvey Hospital Ashford, Kent. He contributes to the 24 hour Kent-wide Primary Angioplasty service based at William Harvey Hospital. His sub-speciality interest is non-invasive CT-coronary angiography imaging in the assessment of cardiac chest pain; In establishing this new local service, he is currently piloting the project at DVH.
Dr D’Souza has held Interventional Cardiology Fellowships in Central Manchester and London’s Brompton Hospitals and attained extensive experience with national and international accredited operators. He graduated in Medicine from the Goa Medical College/ University of Bombay in India and then progressed to his post-graduate training in the UK in Yorkshire and the Southeast.
Academically, Dr D’Souza is conferred with a Doctorate in Medicine from the Hatter Cardiovascular Institute, University College London for his pioneering work in endorsing the protective role of B-type natriuretic peptide in ischaemic pre-conditioning of the heart. He has a large number of publications to his credit, in high impact factor journals. He is a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians in Ireland and the UK.
Clinical interests
Dr D’Souza sees all general adult cardiology patients in assessment of chest discomfort, angina, heart attacks, palpitations, high blood pressure, blackouts, or breathlessness and has a specialist interest in the assessment of chest pain, coronary angiography and percutaneous coronary intervention (angioplasty).
