Easter Pharmacy Opening Hours

Our main hospital pharmacy will be open for hospital outpatient prescriptions on the following days:

  • Fri 18 April: 11am–1pm
  • Sat 19 April: 11am–1pm
  • Sun 20 April: Closed
  • Mon 21 April: 11am–1pm
  • Tues 22 April: 10am–1pm & 2pm–4:30pm

Please note: If you have a GP issued prescription or a ‘green’ outpatient prescription this can only be dispensed at a community pharmacy.

Clinical pharmacy services for hospital inpatients are provided by the hospital pharmacy departments at Darent Valley Hospital and at Queen Mary's Hospital - the pharmacy service at Queen Mary's is provided for us by Oxleas NHS Foundation Trust. This includes making sure we have an accurate list of all your usual medicines, checking that any new medicines prescribed are suitable for you, providing advice for doctors and nurses on safe prescribing and use of medicines, and making sure you have all the information you need about your medicines.

If you know you are coming in to hospital, please bring with you a list of all the regular medicines you take, as well as the medicines themselves if possible. This will include medicines prescribed for you by your GP, by other hospitals, and medicines you buy over-the-counter. When you leave the hospital, we will make sure that you have at least 7 days' supply of all of your regular medicines, including any new medicines started during your stay.

Green out-patient prescriptions (FP10s), given to you by the hospital or by your GP, may be dispensed at any community pharmacy (chemist).

At Darent Valley Hospital, white out-patient prescription forms are dispensed for you either by Chopra's Pharmacy in the main hospital foyer, or by the hospital Pharmacy Department (Level 2, Junction 3). Check with the team at your clinic reception if you are not sure. These white prescriptions cannot be dispensed for you at any other pharmacy. The Darent Valley hospital pharmacy cannot dispense green prescription forms or private prescriptions.

At Queen Mary's Hospital, white out-patient prescriptions are dispensed by the hospital Pharmacy Department (A Block Junction 7).

If the doctor decides that new medication is required or changes your medication, and it is necessary to start immediately, you will be given a prescription for an adequate supply from the hospital. After this time you will need to get a further supply from your GP.

If you have had medicines supplied from Darent Valley, either as an inpatient or an outpatient, you can call our Medicines Information Patient Helpline if you have any questions or queries about those medicines.

Please leave your name and a contact telephone number on the answerphone, and someone will return your call as soon as possible.
